Thus begins our story for today. The archway you see before you is the Arch of Marcus Aurelius, decidated to the roman emperor who conquered what is now Libya. If I'm not mistaken, I think that would have been in the mid 1600s. I haven't got the internet speed here to do a good research on it, so you're gonna have to just take my word for it. The stone archway you're seeing here has been standing in this spot for over 400 years.. pretty cool. You can tell, from the placement of the markers in front that there used to be marble columns leading into the city that adorned the promenade before the arch. Most of those are in ruins now, but their remains lie scattered about this site.
