In election 2008, don’t forget Angry White Man

I coped this, in its entirety from the Aspen Times Weekly. You can find the source article here. My Kudo's to the author for having the stones to write this.

BEGIN QUOTE:

There is a great amount of interest in this year’s presidential elections, as everybody seems to recognize that our next president has to be a lot better than George Bush. The Democrats are riding high with two groundbreaking candidates — a woman and an African-American — while the conservative Republicans are in a quandary about their party’s nod to a quasi-liberal maverick, John McCain.
Each candidate is carefully pandering to a smorgasbord of special-interest groups, ranging from gay, lesbian and transgender people to children of illegal immigrants to working mothers to evangelical Christians.
There is one group no one has recognized, and it is the group that will decide the election: the Angry White Man. The Angry White Man comes from all economic backgrounds, from dirt-poor to filthy rich. He represents all geographic areas in America, from urban sophisticate to rural redneck, deep South to mountain West, left Coast to Eastern Seaboard.
His common traits are that he isn’t looking for anything from anyone — just the promise to be able to make his own way on a level playing field. In many cases, he is an independent businessman and employs several people. He pays more than his share of taxes and works hard.
The victimhood syndrome buzzwords — “disenfranchised,” “marginalized” and “voiceless” — don’t resonate with him. “Press ‘one’ for English” is a curse-word to him. He’s used to picking up the tab, whether it’s the company Christmas party, three sets of braces, three college educations or a beautiful wedding.
He believes the Constitution is to be interpreted literally, not as a “living document” open to the whims and vagaries of a panel of judges who have never worked an honest day in their lives.
The Angry White Man owns firearms, and he’s willing to pick up a gun to defend his home and his country. He is willing to lay down his life to defend the freedom and safety of others, and the thought of killing someone who needs killing really doesn’t bother him.
The Angry White Man is not a metrosexual, a homosexual or a victim. Nobody like him drowned in Hurricane Katrina — he got his people together and got the hell out, then went back in to rescue those too helpless and stupid to help themselves, often as a police officer, a National Guard soldier or a volunteer firefighter.
His last name and religion don’t matter. His background might be Italian, English, Polish, German, Slavic, Irish, or Russian, and he might have Cherokee, Mexican, or Puerto Rican mixed in, but he considers himself a white American.
He’s a man’s man, the kind of guy who likes to play poker, watch football, hunt white-tailed deer, call turkeys, play golf, spend a few bucks at a strip club once in a blue moon, change his own oil and build things. He coaches baseball, soccer and football teams and doesn’t ask for a penny. He’s the kind of guy who can put an addition on his house with a couple of friends, drill an oil well, weld a new bumper for his truck, design a factory and publish books. He can fill a train with 100,000 tons of coal and get it to the power plant on time so that you keep the lights on and never know what it took to flip that light switch.
Women either love him or hate him, but they know he’s a man, not a dishrag. If they’re looking for someone to walk all over, they’ve got the wrong guy. He stands up straight, opens doors for women and says “Yes, sir” and “No, ma’am.”
He might be a Republican and he might be a Democrat; he might be a Libertarian or a Green. He knows that his wife is more emotional than rational, and he guides the family in a rational manner.
He’s not a racist, but he is annoyed and disappointed when people of certain backgrounds exhibit behavior that typifies the worst stereotypes of their race. He’s willing to give everybody a fair chance if they work hard, play by the rules and learn English.
Most important, the Angry White Man is pissed off. When his job site becomes flooded with illegal workers who don’t pay taxes and his wages drop like a stone, he gets righteously angry. When his job gets shipped overseas, and he has to speak to some incomprehensible idiot in India for tech support, he simmers. When Al Sharpton comes on TV, leading some rally for reparations for slavery or some such nonsense, he bites his tongue and he remembers. When a child gets charged with carrying a concealed weapon for mistakenly bringing a penknife to school, he takes note of who the local idiots are in education and law enforcement.
He also votes, and the Angry White Man loathes Hillary Clinton. Her voice reminds him of a shovel scraping a rock. He recoils at the mere sight of her on television. Her very image disgusts him, and he cannot fathom why anyone would want her as their leader. It’s not that she is a woman. It’s that she is who she is. It’s the liberal victim groups she panders to, the “poor me” attitude that she represents, her inability to give a straight answer to an honest question, his tax dollars that she wants to give to people who refuse to do anything for themselves.
There are many millions of Angry White Men. Four million Angry White Men are members of the National Rifle Association, and all of them will vote against Hillary Clinton, just as the great majority of them voted for George Bush.
He hopes that she will be the Democratic nominee for president in 2008, and he will make sure that she gets beaten like a drum.

I guess this makes me an Angry White Man...

  1. So the Angry White Man will vote to put someone into the running, just so that they can tear that person back down? It seems as if a man with such strong opinions would want his vote to go towards something that would further his goals, not just to prove a point. Just a thought...

  2. Key K. Well, quite frankly I'm way depressed at almost all the candidates running in this election. The few I had any hope for already fell by the wayside.

Personally, I would rather have Donald Duck than Hilary Clinton. She's got more skeletons in her closet than Manson... the litany of unethical breaches of conduct she made in her former white-house position makes it clear she's out for herself, not for the good of my country.

Barack, I hope not. I have no problem with a black president, but I do disagree with a Muslim president. No, before anyone jumps the gun, I don't have any problems with Islam. Hell, after the last two years I probably know more about Islam than most corn-fed Americans. My point is that I live in a country founded "Under God" and I've seen my country to go hell enough over the last few years with the declination of God in our country's creeds. I have no desire to see that continue.

As far as the republican party goes, I'm quite fed up with what's been happening to the US over the last 4 years. We're paying for a war that should have been over in ten days, not running for 4 years. Now, we're looking at a drawn out depopulation process that will tax our economy further and what are we American's getting out of it except a warm fuzzy feeling? Try to fill your gas tank on warm fuzzy feelings and see how far that gets ya.

As far as furthering my goals, I won't pretend to be enough of a politician to know how best to fix this country. I can say this for certain though. Life in America was much better before half our Army was deployed overseas constantly, tobacco farming was still encouraged, and the dollar was worth a dollar. I just want a president that will bring america back to what it is supposed to be.

Don't have a green card? Get the hell out and apply like everyone else? Illegal alien? Tax his and THEN throw him on the boat or back across the Rio Grande. Got 5 kids and want to sit on welfare while your uneducated children sell drugs in my town? Not hardly. Cut it off and make them get jobs or get out too!

I'm just tired of seeing America become the "melting-pot" for the rest of the world's garbage.

  3. I agree with everything but the Barack paragraph. And I quote..."His wife, Michelle, and his two daughters, Malia, 9, and Sasha, 6, live on Chicago's South Side where they all attend Trinity United Church of Christ." Obama is not a Muslim. And both of his parents fought/worked for the USA during World War 2. Just like our grandparents did, TJ.

  4. After your comment, I decided to do some more digging (THEN I saw your CNN post). It's hard to get past the crap online, through the slander, past the gossip, and behind the lies, but I'll concede that I am finding mostly results that proclaim him a CHristian, with the muslim hoodoo never being founded in anything other than rumor. If that's the case.. then I owe him a mental apology, AND a vote.

Congratulations... you might just have made me a democrat this year. lol. I'll let ya know how the dig goes. Call me about it later if you get the time. I'm seriously interested in placing the right vote this year and I DO stand behind a lot of his beliefs, just not his relition (as I saw it).

  5. My point is that I live in a country founded "Under God"

Tommy, this is not a bust on your remark. Just stating a fact.

This country was not "founded Under God"

It was invaded and stolen from the indians as our descendants raped killed and pillaged and ultimately stole their land. Our government allowed them to live on "reservations" if they would stop resisting our invasion/occupation or they would meet certain annihilation.

  6. Hey T. This is a semantics issue we could argue for decades. No, the country wasn't siezed in the name of God.. it was taken like every other country has been taken, through bloodshed and strife. I personally have a lot of American indian heritage in my family, but at the same time I understand that no country in the history of the world was ever won over by someone who came in and said "Hey y'all. Can we have this? Thanks man. Now y'all get to scootin' ya hear?"

Our "founding" articles were composed under the subtext of christian beliefs "under God" even though much of the puritanical belief structure would be considered radical today. The point remains that our country was founded with beliefs like "One Nation under God, In God we trust" and others. That was and always has been the Capital "God" not the suppositional "god" that people would like to make it today.

Anyway, that's beside the point. The point was... oh yeah.. who to get into office and why.. lol.

  7. Because you are open to new ideas.

One of my mom's friends thinks Obama is the Anti-Christ... Sad thing is, I don't think she's joking.

  8. I know what the discussion was about.

And Barack will most likely be my choice as well.

The republicans have done enough damage to the country, and McCain is a crackpot and wants us in Iraq for 100 years. Bush Sr. should be happy about that with being a CEO of the Carlyle Group and all that.

But if it was even between Hitlery and McCain I'd still have to take Hitlery.

Huckabee wants us to be over-run by Mexicans.

    Arkansas Freedom

And unfortunately Ron Paul is being snubbed by the media.

And as far as the country being founded on christian beliefs. The people may have thought that, but their leaders didn't. Since I know how much you like to read.

    Go here.
